Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction , Food & Drug Retailers and General Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON: RTO ), which rose 5.01% or 16.70 points to trade at 350.00 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LON: SBRY ) added 3.55% or 8.80 points to end at 256.80 and Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON: PSHP ) was up 3.46% or 114.00 points to 3,414.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON: FRES ), which fell 2.71% or 28.44 points to trade at 1,021.00 at the close. Melrose Industries PLC (LON: MRON ) declined 2.24% or 9.40 points to end at 410.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON: SPX ) was down 1.85% or 110.00 points to 5,845.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 843 to 809 and 624 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.99% or 33.15 to $3,313.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.30% or 2.06 to hit $64.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.01% or 1.98 to trade at $67.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 99.22.
