Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials , Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.70% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.63%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA: SOGN ), which rose 2.27% or 0.67 points to trade at 29.99 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (EPA: SAF ) added 2.06% or 4.80 points to end at 237.90 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) was up 2.00% or 0.45 points to 22.97 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA: RENA ), which fell 2.15% or 1.07 points to trade at 48.59 at the close. Vivendi SA (EPA: VIV ) declined 1.26% or 0.03 points to end at 2.43 and Teleperformance SE (EPA: TEPRF ) was down 1.06% or 0.92 points to 85.80.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA: VLS ) which rose 5.92% to 2.29, Nexity (EPA: NEXI ) which was up 2.61% to settle at 12.17 and Societe Generale SA (EPA: SOGN ) which gained 2.27% to close at 29.99.

The worst performers were Eramet SA (EPA: ERMT ) which was down 4.23% to 54.40 in late trade, X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA: XFAB ) which lost 3.54% to settle at 4.98 and Viridien SA (EPA: VIRI ) which was down 3.01% to 58.05 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 254 to 228 and 92 ended unchanged.

Shares in Societe Generale SA (EPA: SOGN ) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.27% or 0.67 to 29.99. Shares in Safran SA (EPA: SAF ) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.06% or 4.80 to 237.90. Shares in Societe Generale SA (EPA: SOGN ) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.27% or 0.67 to 29.99.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.40% or 11.09 to $2,759.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.94% or 0.71 to hit $74.73 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.67 to trade at $78.33 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 107.92.
