Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.96%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF: CMIN3 ), which rose 6.68% or 0.35 points to trade at 5.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (BVMF: VALE3 ) added 5.32% or 3.02 points to end at 59.83 and Bradespar SA (BVMF: BRAP4 ) was up 4.98% or 0.87 points to 18.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ), which fell 5.06% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.25 at the close. Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF: PETZ3 ) declined 4.51% or 0.18 points to end at 3.81 and Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF: COGN3 ) was down 4.17% or 0.05 points to 1.15.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 550 to 406 and 59 ended unchanged.

Shares in Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 5.06% or 0.12 to 2.25. Shares in Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF: COGN3 ) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.17% or 0.05 to 1.15.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.59% to 31.34.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.87% or 23.01 to $2,682.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.46% or 0.98 to hit $68.18 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.96% or 3.18 to trade at $333.43 .

USD/BRL was down 0.14% to 6.08, while EUR/BRL rose 0.89% to 6.42.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 105.83.
